Texans Tragic 2013 Season
The Houston Texans at the beginning of the 2013-2014 season had been picked to be Super Bowl contenders because of their rising talent that was expected to increase, but as the season progressed, they lost 11 games in a row because of many different factors to consider. There have been numerous injuries as well as other countless setbacks that they have had to deal with causing them to go from the championship contenders to the team with the worst record in the entire National Football League. Among these injuries have been two starting players on both sides of the ball, such as Brian Cushing, at Linebacker who had just recovered from a knee injury just to injure the same knee, and Arian Foster, at Running back who also has had his own issues in the past with injuries. Not only has this been a key element in their downfall, but they fired their safety Ed Reed, who was expected to do great things for the defense, but did not deliver. To add to this long list of things that have gone wrong on this season, the 10 year veteran Quarterback Matt Schaub lost all confidence, changing the course of numerous games we should have won by a great deal, and Head Coach Gary Kubiak's collapse at halftime of a recent game causing the players not to perform to the best of their abilities because of the worry for their coaches well being. When anyone looks at how many things that have set the Houston Texans back in their unexpected demise, it is easy for one to see how much they have had to deal with and can not help but feel sympathy for them in all the adversity they have had to face.

Star Wars Trilogies
Many Star Wars fans seem to reach some sort of rift when it comes to the differences in the trilogies of Star Wars. Some fans find it hard to decide which saga is better the original saga, which consists of Episode 4: A New Hope, Episode 5: Empire Strikes Back, and Episode 6: Return of the Jedi, or the prequel saga which includes Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, and Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Each trilogy has its advantages as well as disadvantages over the its counterpart, but when they are recognized, it is easier for one to be more partial to the original saga for many reasons. Although the prequel saga is very successful and is without a doubt an extremely fantastic trilogy of movies in its own way, the original saga came first and made fans fall in love with Star Wars for the very first time and has a certain feeling of nostalgia that makes a more enjoyable experience when watching this trilogy. The Star wars movies definitely would not have been near as successful had it not been for the impact of these movies, because of their introduction to the franchise's riveting action and plot. When comparing the trilogies, it is easy for me to see which trilogy is more enjoyable because it has become a legacy that will live on and endure for many generations to come.
The Dark Knight Analysis
The Dark Knight is referred to by some to be a movie that is considered poetic in many ways. Not only is there intense action, meaningful plot, suspense, and many other factors of the movie that make it easy for the fans to remember the movie, but the movie is very symbolic and deep in terms of meaning that make it more than just a good movie. Having a symbolic and deep meaning transform the Dark knight from a good movie to a great movie. This is one of the reasons that this movie and the entire trilogy for that matter is a must see and is a very enjoyable and memorable experience for any audience. Another factor that makes the Dark Knight an excellent choice is the fact that it completely transformed the way that most people perceive Batman. In past movies, Batman has been perceived as being somewhat of a silly that the villains as well as the audience could have a hard time taking seriously at times. The Dark Knight had a different approach on the way they introduced Batman, because for the first time in a long time, he was given a more serious and intimidating nature that was more fitting for a hero lurking in the shadows beating criminals to a bloody pulp. Not all people have the luxury of reading the comics to know the true nature of the Batman and knowing just how frightening he can be. That is why most people rely on the movies for their knowledge of comic book heroes. This is why the Dark Knight is a very monumental movie, because it gave him the appearance that the true fans have been seeking and made him less of a joke, proving how powerful he can be without having superpowers like most heroes, and having to rely on his humanity to overcome obstacles. "Its not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you" -Rachel Dawes: Batman Begins.

Capital Punishment
One of the greatest controversies of our time that we know today has always been whether or not to tolerate capital punishment, such as the death penalty and torture, in our society, as well as whether to practice it or not. Not only is capital punishment a huge controversy in itself, but toleration of it in our society makes it an even more controversial issue. There are many pros and cons to be compared, as well as many arguments and counter arguments to be understood when analyzing capital punishment.
Someone who supports the tolerance of capital punishment would argue that the pros of the death penalty outweigh the cons in many circumstances. They argue that it is better to put someone to death that puts others to death, so that he will no longer be a danger to the society that he resides. They also state that it is easier financially to just put someone to death and be done with it rather than support them in prison for the rest of their lives, and that execution is much easier than the numerous trials that come with keeping someone alive in prison for a long period of time without putting them to death. Without knowing both sides of the argument it seems as though putting someone to death would be easier in most circumstances. Another common argument for justifying the death penalty is that the victim or the victim’s family and or friends will feel at ease knowing that they paid the consequences, and they feel as though the retribution they are seeking is a justified vengeance. However, it has been recorded in numerous circumstances that the victim’s family feels little to no difference in terms of the consequences of the criminal after putting them to death rather than seeing him rot in prison for the rest of his days. Although when you weigh both sides, you can analyze why keeping someone alive rather than putting someone to death is just as if not more effective for everyone involved.
The
cons of the death penalty argue that if you want someone put to death you are
just as guilty for wanting to take a life as the criminal that takes a life,
and demonstrates that one’s morality should be taken into consideration and
although the death penalty could argue equality for consequences, someone who
opposes the death penalty would argue that it is hypocritical to want to take a
life of someone who takes lives. In terms of government spending, experts have
actually found that it is less expensive to support a criminal individual in
prison for the rest of their life than it is to put them on death row to be
executed. Most people do not take this factor into consideration because this
does not appear to be so when one thinks of putting someone to death as being a
somewhat a simple process, however this is not the case. It has been measured
that putting someone to death by the United States federal death penalty costs
approximately two million dollars which is four times more expensive than
keeping someone alive in prison for the rest of their days, which is
approximately five hundred thousand per individual. However, most people do not
realize this in making their decision on whether to be for or against the death
penalty, and act out of ignorance on the topic. The reason this is true is
because of the numerous trials by juries while someone is on death row before
execution. Another reason a good number of people oppose the death penalty is
because sometimes the numerous trials may not be enough and a convicted
criminal could be found innocent after their execution. This has happened in a
number of circumstances when new evidence is found after a trail that could
potentially change the course of the trial, but if it is not done in time, an
innocent person will be put to death for no reason, which is the reason for a
lot of the resentment of capital punishment.

Personal Review- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, directed by Peter Jackson, was without a doubt one of the most successful movies to grace the public at the end of 2012. An Unexpected Journey is the first among three movies that will make up The Hobbit because of the incredible amount of content that these movies will contain. After his direction of the three Lord of the Rings movies several years ago, Peter Jackson had to step it up in this new trilogy of movies that take place in J.R.R. Tolkien's middle earth universe. Fans who are loyal to Tolkien's works of literature are far from disappointed in this experience because much of the same elements are present throughout both, unlike some movies in which the movie does not accurately portray the work of literature which is being illustrated. Although the movie adopts some new concepts and abandons some old ones in order to give it some independence in terms of originality, most of the concepts from the movie are borrowed from the works of literature which is fortunate for most fans. For these reasons and many more The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey gets a 9.5 out of 10 and is a must see for anyone who is even slightly interested in action and suspense, as well as occasional comedy, and is without a doubt one of the greatest movies to ever be seen as an interpretation of an original work of literature.
Thor 2: The Dark World
IGN.com gave the new Marvel movie Thor 2: the Dark World a 6.8 out of 10, which I disagree with completely because of a variety of different reasons. In my opinion, this movie is without a doubt worthy of at least an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The acting performance of the cast members, primarily Tom Heddleston, who portrays Loki in the movie is fantastic, and is unmatched in talent throughout all of the marvel movies so far in my opinion. Thor 2: the Dark World was directed in part by the same individual who directed the show Game of Thrones, which is an epic, medieval, action success, and his experience in directing action is displayed in this movie because of how suspenseful the action is, which keeps the audience on their feet and at attention one hundred percent of the experience. This sequel is way more successful than that of the first movie, which was released in 2011, in every conceivable way according to many credible sources. I am looking forward to seeing what Marvel Comics has in store for its fans in the future, based on how successful their movies have been recently and will only improve further down the line. I am very much impressed with the direction these movies are going. I recommend this movie to everyone and I consider it a must see movie for action lovers as well as thrill riders.

While watching the Texans tragic defeat by the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, I was a witness to an advertisement on a certain channel that had an impact on me. It was a commercial that discussed the effects that smoking has on your body in contrast to most peoples perceptions of smoking in society and the view that the media has led everyone to follow. It stated that there is a significant difference in the way people see smokers and what eventually happens to them over the years, and what smoking actually does to them. It had an emotional appeal to the advertisement, which had a more personal effect with the audience and was probably more effective at getting their point across about the topic and persuasion because of that. There was a lot of different methods to grasp the attention of the audience which is extremely effective for advertisements as well. In conclusion the advertisement contrasting the perception and reality of smoking was a successful one because it was effective in its appeal to the audience as well as its ability to keep the attention of the audience.

Texans
Although the Houston Texans have been expected to be one of the National Football League's most anticipated potentially successful teams in accordance with numerous experts, I do not believe that they have been performing to the best of their ability throughout the course of the entire game like they could be
Although the Texans have pulled off a win the past two weeks against the San Diego Chargers and the Tennessee Titans, making their record 2-0, which is fantastic, both of these wins have been by the skin of their teeth and have been particularly nerve racking for the fans. Hopefully the winning trend will continue, but for myself as a fan, I would like to see the Texans gain some momentum and play to the best of their ability against the future teams that their schedule has in store for them and see them win by a more significant margine. However, it could be much worse. I could have been born in Dallas, and for that I am GREATFUL. Go Texans!!!!
